Practices

Spiritual Practices:

Labyrinth - one can think of a labyrinth as a symbolic of pilgrimage. You are walking on a maze like path, to the center looking for enlightenment. Walking among the turnings, one loses track of direction and of the outside world, and thus quiets the mind. When you reach the center you receive a gift from God, a word, a fruit of the spirit or a piece of scripture which will give you guidance in reflection on whatever you were contemplating when entering the labyrinth. Since labyrinth are not always readily available finger labyrinth make a great substitute.

Walking Prayer - an exercise where you would take your angel card word or a fruit of the spirit word having faith that it is your divine word chosen for you from God and walk with it with guided instructions. Walk with the word, or just sit with the word, journal with the word.

Praying with Trees - doing just that with guided instructions.

Lectio Divina ( Divine Reading) - praying and meditating on a piece of scripture. A powerful reading of Scripture that aims at giving an awareness of God's presence through a fourfold process ... Reading, Contemplation, Prayer, Meditation. We read unhurried so that we are listen for the message God has for us.

Visio Divina - Lectio Divina but instead of reading you will be doing it through looking at a picture of a bible story.

Ignatian Prayer - listening for God in Scripture. It is a practice designed to make the scriptures come to life and help you find your place in God's story. Journaling or sharing on guided questions.

Praying with a Picture - picking a picture that attracts you then reflecting on a series of questions.

Praying with Clay - taking a lump of clay in your hands, feel it, play with it, get to know it, with eyes closed...What have you created me to be or become. Allow this question to find a answer in the clay in your hand. The clay reminds us that God is constantly shaping us into vessels of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Practices Through Art:

Praying with Art and Sacred Circles - the circle serves as a holy container. It holds what is deep within the unconscious and is brought into the light by reflective, prayerful drawing and coloring.

Prayer Collage - making a collage out of magazine pictures and reflecting on why you chose those pictures and how God is in it all. Allow about an hour and half.

Making pray beads and then being led in a guided prayer of loving kindness, praying for yourself  and others.

Visual Journaling - instead of writing ... creating using art supplies.
